Anacostia Senior High School is a historic District of Columbia public school located in Southeast Washington, DC. The original school was built in 1935 and additions were added between the 1940's and 1970's, so that today's campus incorporates approximately 240,000 SF.
OPEFM has contracted with Forrester/EEC Joint Venture to undertake a complete modernization of this school, which will be renovated in two phases, allowing the existing students to remain on-site in the un-renovated portion and then move into the completed portion. Phase 1 work will start in June 2010 and is scheduled for completion in March 2011. Phase 2 will start in June 2011 and be completed by December 2011.
The scope of the project includes total replacement of the mechanical and electrical systems, roofing, and windows. In addition, all classrooms and corridors will be renovated. A new media center and cafeteria are included, as well as renovation of administrative spaces and special spaces such as the auditorium, gymnasium and locker rooms, health center, day care center, and JROTC.
Forrester/EEC will receive bid documents in Mid March 2010 and will be soliciting subcontract bids for this project in April 2010.
