Germantown Indoor Swim Center
Germantown, Maryland

Architect: Hughes Group Architects
Size: 62,500 SF
Schedule:  17 months

The Germantown Indoor Swim Center is the most recent state-of-the-art addition to Montgomery County’s nationally known 555 acre South Germantown Recreational Park.

This new 62,500 SF, two-story facility is specially designed to accommodate national competitive swimming and diving events, as well as instruction and recreational activities.

The project included the construction of a competition pool, recreation pool, leisure pool with water slides and dramatic water features, and two separate hydrotherapy pools.

The competition pool is 25 meters (8 lanes) long by 25 yards (10 lanes) wide and features a world-class diving tower with 3, 5, 7.5, and 10-meter platforms, as well as stands for competition viewing.

The shallow leisure pool contains interactive water features including kiddie slides, water umbrellas, and tumble buckets.

Additionally, ceiling-mounted water slides as long as 200-feet begin on the platform level of the facility and dispatch swimmers into the splash pool area of the leisure pool.

The remainder of the facility consists of a sauna, spas, locker rooms, and administrative offices.
