Design/Build Construct Operations Facility (COF)
February 20, 2008 - Forrester Construction has been awarded the Design/Build Construct Operations Facility (COF) at Bolling Air Force Base (BAFB) in Washington, DC. This project will involve the construction of a one-story, 21,000 SF office building.
Several new technologies will be used to design the facility, all of which will be done in a Building Information Model (BIM). BIM will be utilized to coordinate the locations and reduce the conflicts of different trades and materials prior to construction beginning. A 3-D model of the facility will be combined with the project schedule to produce a working 4-D model.
The Owner is the Department of the Navy and the Architect is The Onyx Group.
The design phase is currently underway and will last until June, 2008. Construction will then begin and is scheduled to finish in February, 2009.
