October 7, 2009 - Forrester Construction wins Anacostia Senior High School in Washington, DC. This $40 Million Project will involve the modernization and adaptive reuse of the 250,000 SF school, while utilizing as much of the existing building as possible. The renovation will include new MEP Systems; ADA improvements; code compliance; site improvements; technology improvements; and new furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E).
The project will incorporate sustainable design requirements in accordance with the LEED for Schools – Silver Certification. The challenge of this project will be to renovate the building while it is occupied by approximately 950 high school students. The project requires onsite swing space and multiple phases of work.
Forrester's Joint Venture Partner is EEC of DC. The Owner is the District of Columbia Public Schools and the Owner's Representatives are McKissack & McKissack and Brailsford & Dunlavey. The Architect is Sorg Architects of Washington, DC. PreConstruction began on October 1, 2009. Construction will start in March 2010 and is scheduled to finish in August 2011.
