Description:
Construction of a chapel at the Marine Corps Heritage Center to provide a place for visitor's to honor, remember, and reflect on the service of Marines. It features bold, simple structural elements fully exposed to view. The building's foundation is cast-in-place concrete, which forms footings and grade beams, and a cast-in-place slab-on-grade. The project also includes the construction of a restroom building, a granite courtyard with reflecting fountain, landscaping, access road, and parking lot. Climate control of the building is controlled by a geothermal system, which includes an energy-recovery unit for added efficiency.
