Meridian Public Charter School

For this project, Forrester Construction renovated Meridian Public Charter School by building state-of-the-art instructional spaces, an enclosed playground and a 12,000 SF addition with a cafeteria, multipurpose room and media room.  The mission of Meridian Public Charter School is to instill within its students a passion for learning. The school is housed in the 1890s-era Harrison school building on U Street in northwest DC.

The project incorporated a four-pipe mechanical system, new electrical service, high-end millwork and cabinetry and a serpentine metal panel wall as part of the high-performance building envelope. The terrazzo flooring and slate stair treads were salvaged and refinished as part of the renovation.
