United Arab Emirates Chancery Annex

The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates Chancery Annex (UAE) is located on Massachusetts Avenue, NW in Washington, DC. For this project Forrester Construction completed a multi-story historic renovation and expansion of the existing chancery to provide space for the UAE’s diplomatic and administrative offices.

Since construction involved the replacement of principal structural elements, including new steel and concrete systems, without damaging the existing 100 year old structure significant sheeting and shoring, underpinning and the construction of micropiles and concrete foundations and slabs were required. The building’s exterior received a thorough façade restoration with glazing, masonry and curtain wall work. A new annex and below grade parking garage were also constructed.

A LEED™ Gold certified facility, this UAE Chancery has a number of sustainable features including a new high performance building envelope system, green and highly reflective roofing, environmentally friendly landscaping and energy efficient mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment. The project team also implemented construction waste mitigation strategies. Materials from the existing structure were re-purposed where possible, and others were regionally sourced or recycled.
