Maya Angelou Public Charter School

For this multi-phased, design-build project, Forrester Construction renovated an existing educational facility to house the Maya Angelou Public Charter School‘s programs.  The See Forever Foundation was established to create learning communities in under-served urban areas where all students, particularly those who have not succeeded in traditional schools, can strive for academic excellence.

This LEED™ certified facility features new and remodeled classrooms, upgraded science labs, a flexible workshop, an improved library, administrative offices, a new commercial kitchen, a renovated cafeteria and enhanced common space areas. Construction required demolition, abatement and renovation of interior spaces. The project featured extensive utility work, replacement of public water mains and HVAC systems. The exterior received new windows and doors throughout, a roof screen system and a modernized fire alarm system.
