2008 WBC Craftsmanship Award

March 19, 2008 – Forrester Construction Company wins a 2008 Washington Building Congress (WBC) Craftsmanship Award for Easter Seals Intergenerational Center and Regional Headquarters. Warner Drywall of Gaithersburg, Maryland won in the Woods and Plastics/Rough Carpentry Category for the Forrester project- Easter Seals Intergenerational Center and Regional Headquarters.

As part of the redevelopment of Silver Spring, MD, the Easter Seals Intergenerational Center is the new Regional Headquarters and state-of-the-art facility for Easter Seals. This 70,000 SF project included two levels of below-grade parking, three levels of office and administrative space, and extensive site work.

Warner Drywall services was the single source subcontractor for pre-engineered light gauge truss (supplied from Adtek Engineering) and the field constructed infill framing required to give the commercial structure the look of a residential building. The architect’s intent for the design was to not create a standard commercial square box with metal and glass, but to give the building the feel of a large home. Warner displayed outstanding workmanship and attention to detail, which included the construction of the 4:12 pitched roofs, dormers, and the signature of the building- lines to one specific plane- wrapping and leveling around the building façade.

This project was recognized at the WBC Craftsmanship Awards Banquet on March 14, 2008. The Washington Building Congress Awards Program is the only program recognizing the skill and achievement of individual craftsmen in our local construction community.

Forrester Construction Company is a member of The Washington Building Congress. With over 900 members, WBC is the largest local association representing all facets of the commercial real estate, design, and construction industry within the greater Washington region.
