ASH – 2021 L Street receives highest LEED Rating

September 1, 2010 -The American Society of Hematology (ASH) – 2021 L Street Headquarters has received a LEED Platinum Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The Owner’s Representative is AtSite and the Architect is RTKL.

This project involved an interior build-out for ASH. The American Society of Hematology purchased the 2021 L Street building to serve as their new headquarters. The building consists of 10 floors above grade and two levels of underground parking.

Forrester built out the top five floors for the new ASH headquarters and replaced the entire HVAC system for the building. An open communicating stair with glass handrails was constructed to connect the sixth through the ninth floors. The 10th floor contains large conference / meeting rooms with operable partitions to provide maximum flexibility.

The project also included the construction of a new cafeteria and fitness center for use by the tenants. The first floor was occupied by retail tenants throughout the construction, so operation of existing mechanical, electrical, and other building systems had to be maintained for this area.

Developed by USGBC, LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
