Southern Regional Aquatic Wellness Center

Forrester was selected for the construction of a new 14,000 square foot aquatic center including a leisure/lap pool, therapy pool, spa and viewing area for the natatorium, exercise rooms, locker and restrooms, lobby/reception area, offices, workroom and storages, a multipurpose room, and mechanical, electrical, filter and water service rooms.

In addition to the three pools, the most striking feature within the Aquatic Center is a vast feature wall. The highest point of this 150-foot long wall is 34 feet, sloping down on a radius to 14 feet. The entire wall is covered with a custom mural of fall foliage.

The new Aquatic Center is designed in a rising spiral shape that reflects and fits within the context of the surrounding recreation campus. The exterior of the building is constructed of vertical metal panels approximately 16” in width and ranging in heights of 14’ to 34’ tall.

As part of the project Forrester was required to demolish and remove all existing improvements including parking areas, existing site utilities and athletic fields to allow the project to be constructed. The pools were excavated at the beginning of the project while foundation work was ongoing. The site work included a new patio, parking lot with 90 spaces, landscaping, site utilities, and stormwater management.

The project was designed and built to meet LEED Silver certification.
