Harborside Surgery Center

Located in National Harbor, Harborside Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art facility for surgeries that do not require hospital admission. This 18,509 SF ambulatory surgery center features three operating rooms, two procedure rooms, three nurse’s stations, a reception desk, a waiting area, and 19 patient bays, including three private bays. Light-colored walls and calming artwork complement the custom millwork counters, glass and ceramic accent tile, and acoustic wood ceiling. In the Harborside waiting room, patients can view a decorative stone wall adorned with custom signage, windows letting in natural sunlight, and security doors leading to patient bays and support spaces. The center also contains high-efficiency decontamination and sterilization equipment with infrastructure in place for future equipment expansion.

During construction, the existing building was occupied on all five levels, requiring our team working on the 2nd level to perform any “noise-producing work” during off-hours. Our team also took careful considerations regarding power interruptions to other tenants and new through-slab plumbing to ensure construction did not interfere with the Imaging Center on level one. Additionally, the new rooftop equipment required our team to access the UMMS Capital Region Clinic during off hours to install new MEP infrastructure and structural steel below the rooftop equipment.
