Kirwan’s Irish Pub

Kirwan’s Irish Pub is at The Wharf, a waterfront city, and destination along the Potomac River in Washington, DC. The build-out of this new restaurant included the main dining room, private dining areas, three bars and a new kitchen. As part of the fit out, Forrester Construction built a new storefront with operable doors allowing the patrons the option to be seated at two outdoor cafés overlooking the water.

The project also added a second-floor mezzanine dining room with the option to close it off from the central bar area. The first-floor dining room has the same feature with an entryway disguised as built-in shelves.

The pub features an Irish inspired decor with the majority of the finishes handmade and imported from Ireland. Interior finishes include dark wood paneling, custom bars, Irish floor tiles and light fixtures, oak wood flooring in the main dining areas, three brick veneer fireplaces and tin ceiling panels. New mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were installed to support the restaurant. Forrester worked on an accelerated schedule and had the pub completed in time for The Wharf’s grand opening on October 12, 2017.
