National Institutes of Health | Building 4

The National Institutes of Health | Building 4 (NIH) is the federal government’s primary agency responsible for biomedical and health related research. For this project Forrester Construction completed the phased renovation of the first and second floors of Building 4 on NIH’s Bethesda campus.

These BSL 2 & 3 laboratories now include equipment rooms, cold rooms, LAN rooms, tissue culture rooms, office space for researchers, administrative support areas, conference rooms and a central lobby. All mechanical, electrical and telecommunication systems were replaced and the building’s exterior was fully restored. A LEED™ Gold certified facility, the project was completed with an environmentally friendly adaptive reuse approach to minimize construction waste and conserve energy.
